CruiseCtrl+
CruiseCtrl+ is our optional premium subscription. The core CruiseCtrl app — profile, messaging, the Radar, Taps, Safe Meet, and more — is free and will always remain free. CruiseCtrl+ adds a set of extra features for users who want more from the app. This page explains what you get, how to subscribe, how billing works, and your rights as a consumer in the EU and UK.
1. What is CruiseCtrl+?
CruiseCtrl+ is an auto-renewing subscription available as a monthly or annual plan, purchased directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It unlocks a set of features on top of the free tier. There are no hidden fees, no pay-per-feature credits, and no difference in how your data is handled based on subscription status — everyone's privacy is treated equally.
2. What's included — Free vs CruiseCtrl+
Here's a breakdown of what each tier includes:
Free (always available to all users)
- Full profile with photos, bio, stats and health fields
- Discover grid and map (Radar) — browse nearby users while checked in
- Check-in with intent and duration
- Messaging (Signals) with 24-hour chat expiry
- Taps — send and receive unlimited Taps
- 5 Pulse posts per week
- Safe Meet — buddy system for in-person meets
- Basic discovery filters (distance, age range)
- Ghost Mode
- Age verification and the green verified tick
- Reporting and blocking tools
CruiseCtrl+ (subscription)
- Unlimited Pulse posts — post as often as you like, with no weekly cap
- Travel Mode — set your discovery location to any city in the world; browse and be seen there even before you arrive; requires a verified account
- Extended discovery filters — filter by verified-only, additional body type ranges, and more granular intent filters
- Beacons (host) — create a Beacon to signal you're hosting at a location; anyone in the area can see it and tap to express interest; free users can see and respond to Beacons but cannot create them
- Priority placement in the grid — your profile appears closer to the top of the Discover grid for users in your area
- No ads — the app is ad-free when you're subscribed
- Read receipts — see when a message you sent has been read
3. How to subscribe
- Open CruiseCtrl and go to Settings → CruiseCtrl+.
- You'll see the current pricing for monthly and annual plans, along with a breakdown of what's included.
- Tap Subscribe next to your preferred plan.
- Your device will prompt you to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your store password. This confirms the purchase through your Apple or Google account.
- Once confirmed, your subscription activates immediately and CruiseCtrl+ features unlock within a few seconds. If they don't, see section 9 below.
Pricing is displayed in your local currency at the point of purchase, as set by the App Store or Google Play for your region.
4. How billing works
CruiseCtrl+ subscriptions are billed entirely through the Apple App Store (iOS/iPadOS) or Google Play (Android). This means:
- Your payment is charged to whichever payment method is linked to your Apple ID or Google account — not to a card or payment method held by CruiseCtrl.
- Your receipt comes from Apple or Google, not from Relay Labs Limited. This is normal — the stores are the merchant of record for app subscriptions.
- CruiseCtrl does not have access to your card or bank details at any point.
- Any disputes about charges should be directed to Apple or Google first — they have direct access to the transaction. We'll always help where we can, but the stores control the billing infrastructure.
5. Auto-renewal
CruiseCtrl+ renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) unless you cancel before the renewal date. This is standard for app subscriptions — you retain access to premium features until the end of the period you paid for, then the next period begins and you're charged again.
A few important things to know:
- Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. The subscription lives in your Apple or Google account, not the app itself. If you delete CruiseCtrl from your phone, you will still be charged at renewal unless you cancel via the store.
- Apple and Google typically send a reminder email a day before renewal for annual plans. Check your Apple ID or Google account email for these.
- If a renewal payment fails (e.g. your card has expired), Apple and Google have grace period and billing retry policies — your access may be briefly suspended until the payment goes through or the subscription lapses.
6. How to cancel
Cancelling stops your subscription from renewing at the end of the current paid period. You keep full CruiseCtrl+ access until that period ends. After it ends, your account reverts to the free tier.
On iPhone or iPad (iOS)
- Open the Settings app on your device (not the CruiseCtrl app).
- Tap your name at the top → Subscriptions.
- Find CruiseCtrl in the list and tap it.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Alternatively, go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions in a browser.
On Android
- Open the Google Play app.
- Tap your profile picture (top right) → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Find CruiseCtrl in the list and tap it.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Alternatively, go to play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions in a browser.
7. Your 14-day right of withdrawal (EU/EEA and UK)
As a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have the right to withdraw from a digital subscription within 14 calendar days of purchase without giving any reason. This is provided by the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and its national implementations.
However, when you subscribe to CruiseCtrl+ and immediately begin using the premium features, you are asked to acknowledge that you consent to the service commencing immediately and that you understand you may lose your right of withdrawal once the service is fully performed. In practice, this means:
- If you subscribe and immediately use Travel Mode, Beacons, or any other CruiseCtrl+ feature, the right of withdrawal is reduced proportionally.
- If you subscribe and do not use any CruiseCtrl+ features within 14 days, you can request a full refund by contacting us at support@cruisectrl.eu within the 14-day window.
- If you have used the features partially, a proportionate refund based on the time elapsed and features used may apply.
For the full terms of our refund policy, including worked examples of proportionate refunds, see Refunds & Cancellation.
8. How to request a refund
Because billing is handled by Apple or Google, the fastest route to a refund is through the relevant store:
- Apple: Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the CruiseCtrl purchase, and select Request a refund. Apple handles these within a few days.
- Google Play: Open the Google Play app → Profile → Order history → find the CruiseCtrl purchase → Request a refund. You can also go to play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory.
If you're having difficulty using the store's refund process, or if your request relates to your EU consumer rights and you want us to handle it directly, email support@cruisectrl.eu with:
- Your account email address
- The store you purchased through (Apple or Google)
- Your order ID or transaction reference (found in your purchase receipt email)
- The reason for the refund request
We'll respond within 2 working days and either process the refund directly or coordinate with the store on your behalf.
9. CruiseCtrl+ not activating after payment
Occasionally there's a short delay between completing payment in the store and the premium features appearing in the app. If your subscription shows as active in the App Store or Google Play but CruiseCtrl+ features aren't unlocked:
- Go to Settings → CruiseCtrl+ → Restore Purchases. This prompts the app to re-check your subscription status with the store.
- Make sure you're logged into the same Apple ID or Google account that you used to make the purchase. If you have multiple accounts, this is the most common cause of the problem.
- Wait a few minutes and restart the app — store confirmation webhooks can occasionally be delayed by a few minutes.
- If none of these work after 30 minutes, email support@cruisectrl.eu with your store order ID and we'll investigate.
10. Price changes
If we change the price of CruiseCtrl+, we will:
- Give you advance notice — at least 30 days — via the app and by email.
- Explain the change clearly and give you the option to cancel before the new price takes effect.
- Not apply the new price to your current subscription period — the change takes effect only at your next renewal after you've had notice.
In the EU and EEA, price change notifications for auto-renewing subscriptions may also come directly from Apple or Google, who are required to notify you under their own store policies.
11. Billing problems
If something has gone wrong with your billing — a duplicate charge, an unexpected renewal, or any other issue — here's what to do:
- Charged twice: This sometimes happens if a renewal coincides with a store retry for a previously failed payment. Check your purchase history in the store first. If you genuinely have two charges for the same period, contact the store for a refund of the duplicate, or email us and we'll help.
- Charged after cancellation: If you cancelled but were charged again, check whether the cancellation was confirmed in the store (you should have received a confirmation email). If the cancellation was confirmed and you were still charged, contact Apple or Google directly — they handle billing disputes for store purchases.
- Can't access features after paying: See section 9 above.
- Unrecognised charge: If you see a charge you don't recognise, check your Apple or Google purchase history first. The charge will appear under the store's name (e.g. "APPLE.COM/BILL" or "Google Play"). If you still can't account for it, email support@cruisectrl.eu with the charge date and amount.
12. Gifting and family sharing
CruiseCtrl+ cannot currently be gifted to another user, and does not work with Apple Family Sharing or Google Play's family library for subscription sharing. Each CruiseCtrl account requires its own individual subscription. We may revisit this in future — if it's something you'd find useful, let us know via the in-app feedback button.
For full terms governing the subscription, cancellation, and your consumer rights, see our Terms of Service and Refunds & Cancellation policy.
